Dogs and their humans have an upcoming event to get excited about. The Havre Dog Park Club is holding Bark in the Park on July 13.
The event will feature a 5K and one-mile fun run/walk for dogs and their owners, as well as a number of other fun activities for people and their canine friends.
Contests will be held for the largest and smallest dogs, for the dog and owner who look most alike, and for the best dog costume.
Bark in the Park also includes vendors, a silent auction, a dog agility course and face painting. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for a free-will donation.
The Havre Dog Park Club is a nonprofit organization formed to create and maintain Havre’s first dog park. Bark in the Park will be held at the future home of the dog park, immediately south of the Havre Ice Dome, at 2585 Fifth Ave. in Havre. Parking will be available at the Ice Dome. Look for signs in the parking lot to direct you to specific parking areas.
Registration for the 5K and one-mile run/walk races will begin at 8:30 a.m. and costs $15 per person. You can save $5 on the registration fee by preregistering at Old Station Brewery, Hair of the Dog Grooming, and Eastside Animal Hospital.
The races will begin at 9 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to the winners. The first 30 dogs entered will receive a dog-themed goodie bag.
The judging for the dog contests will begin at 11 a.m. Winners will receive a trophy and a prize. Participation in the dog contests is free and doesn’t require registration.
Vendors will have items for sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost for vendors to participate is $20, and they must provide their own table.
The Havre Dog Park Club will be selling T-shirts for $25 and bandannas for $10.
All who participate are asked to keep their dogs under control and on a leash at all time. Proof of rabies vaccination is required to participate.
